| — | This is the kind of independent low-budget drama that makes me hate independent low-budget dramas. I keep talking about how big the movies are at Sundance (bigger budgets, big stars) but then I see a movie like “Lovers of Hate”. The acting was overdone, the cast didn’t fit the parts, and above all, the plot was translucent. There was far too much situational irony; scene after scene of a man sneaking around a house while his brother screws his recently ex’d wife. Yup. I think it was supposed to be about sibling rivalry, but the pathetic main character hardly tried to rival anyone in the film. The only thing I laughed at during the entire movie was a poop joke. I walked out of this one with a big shrug. I give it a 2. If you ever see this film outside of a film festival, I’ll be shocked. |
